It has a generally warm climate- subtropical in the northern and central regions of the state and a true tropical climate in the southern portion.
When did it get its nickname?
In 1970, the nickname was officially adopted by the legislature.
How much sunshine does Florida get?
On average, the state gets 300 days of sunshine each year.
