Parent/Toddler Class for April

Parent/toddler class sessions are ongoing. The class meets from 3-4pm in the 12^th Avenue Entry classroom. It is open to children 18 months-3 years. The class will led by Montessori certified teachers; Amy Gillis and Juliet Phillips. Call Irene at 469-8138 to find out the current dates and fees. The class offers an opportunity for both you and your child. Our Montessori classroom is designed to meet the developmental needs of children 18-36 months. We focus on the development of practical skills, sensory development, language, social skills, and the basic concepts used in early mathematics. In addition your child gets early educational opportunities in a Montessori environment that include:

Learning and play guided by Montessori certified teachers
A chance to interact with other children the same age
Discussions in Montessori philosophy and child development

*Next session will start April 4th for 4 weeks, if there is enough interest. The cost is $60. Call 469-8138 to register.

Collection for African School

Currently, we are collecting gently used or new school supplies for a school in Kenya. One of our MSP families visited last summer and made us aware of the dire situation there. We had a visitor from Kenya who volunteers at the school speak to the students in November. Boxes are on all campuses for items.

6th and 7th graders competed at the regional MathCounts contest on February 23rd at Woodham Middle School. The team placed 3rd and one 7th grader came in 10th place overall. Thanks to volunteer parent coaches for all their hard work!

Open House at 12th Avenue on Sunday 2/24 at 2pm.

Open House at Montessori Drive on Wednesday 2/27 at 9am.

Here is a painting done by one 6-9 class student of their favorite Montessori work and also a video made by the school in honor of Montessori education.

The student says “My favorite Montessori cultural is latitude and longitude. I like it because it challenges me and helps me find places.”

Meetings this week to discuss classroom space for 2013-14

Thursday, February 21st we will be hosting a round table at Ozone Pizza Board Room after morning drop off and then also a discussion in the Media Center at 2pm. The main focus of discussion will be the addition of a 2nd 9-12 classroom next school year and classroom space.
