Through her study of children, Dr. Maria Montessori made many discoveries that led her to develop and refine the Montessori approach to learning. We base our program upon these principles.
Children pass through sensitive periods of learning that enable them to absorb specific kinds of knowledge more rapidly than at any other time in their lives.
Children require a highly interactive, hands-on educational environment to become self-motivated and successful learners.
Children are motivated to learn through their imaginations and critical thinking abilities.
Each child's path to educational success is unique.

The Toddler and Entry Level programs serve as a bridge between home and school. We focus on helping children from 18 months to 3 years develop small and large motor skills, oral language abilities and self-confidence.
In an environment rich with proven Montessori learning materials, children are invited to touch, turn, twist and take apart things that stimulate their minds and muscles. Life moves at the child's pace, supported by a team of caring professionals who gently guide and encourage these young explorers.

Our Montessori Preschool / Kindergarten program is designed to support the learning experiences of children from three to six years of age. Each classroom is a bright and attractive children's world. Every aspect of the environment is designed to build the child's confidence by encouraging the ability to "do for one's self."
Specially designed materials are part of an educational plan which promotes independence and self-motivation and concepts.
Children develop skills in language, mathematics, history, geography, botany, zoology, Spanish, sign language, music, art and sensorial discrimination. Every encounter in this environment is an opportunity for the child to build a foundation of learning during this critical developmental period.

Our elementary program (grades 1-6) focuses on supporting the whole child through the prepared environment. The specific needs of individual students are met at each developmental level. Children at this age tend to be very social, intellectually curious and highly imaginative. They are eager to explore their world.
The academically challenging curriculum provides a framework for this exploration with key lessons establishing a solid foundation of knowledge. The curriculum includes mathematics and geometry, written and oral language skills, critical thinking, computer skills, sign language, biology, history, geography, current events, Spanish, music, art, and physical education. All classes include field trips, guest speakers and real-life activities to augment basic instruction.
Montessori elementary students discover their own unique capabilities, develop their talents constructively and learn to evaluate their efforts. They practice independence and responsibility. Class meetings introduce children to democratic skills for problem solving and goal setting. Through this combination of experiences, students expand their interests and discover new areas of study that may become life long pursuits.

The Middle School's interdisciplinary and real-world related curriculum is designed to provide a strong academic bridge to high school. In our student-centered environment, we allow significant time for each individual to work alone and to participate in cooperative groups.
The program includes algebra, geometry, grammar, literature, speech, social studies, economics, physical science, life sciences, physical and health education, computer literacy, Spanish and other elective courses.
Students take part in working internships both in a Montessori classroom and a community business. Adventure trips and service projects augment an academic environment which engages students and fosters the development of character, communication, involvement, and commitment. Learning occurs in an inquisitive, cooperative and nurturing climate.
